About the event

Each year, the Walk of Hope brings our community together for a simple but powerful reason: to remind one another that no one has to face mental health challenges alone. This year’s theme, A Light That Carries, reflects how hope and support move through a community—reaching people in moments when they need it most.In central South Dakota, the impact of suicide and mental health challenges is real. Behind every statistic is a person—a friend, family member, neighbor—whose life matters deeply.Through the Foundation of Hope at Capital Area Counseling Service, we work year-round to bring education, support, and connection to our region. From Mental Health First Aid and QPR trainings to support groups for survivors of suicide loss, Hope Boxes, and outreach promoting the 988 Lifeline, these efforts are designed to meet people where they are.Your support helps:- Train community members to recognize and respond to someone in crisis- Provide support to individuals and families after the loss of a loved one- Expand mental health education in schools and communities-Ensure people know where to turn for help- Every dollar makes a difference. Every step taken is a reminder that hope is here.Join us. Give today. Be a light that carries hope forward.
