This special event at Brixton Library will kick off the 2026 Stepping Into Stories Kids' Lit Fest, in collaboration with Lambeth Libraries. Enjoy engaging sessions with young people as we reflect on Alex's influential work.

The event will feature readings from multi-award-winning authors who have drawn inspiration from Alex, alongside heartwarming recollections from his family members.

A highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the ‘Alex Wheatle Reading Room,’ a dedicated space at the library designed for future generations of readers and writers, ensuring Alex's belief in 'writing for all' continues to flourish.
