We've been hearing about the disclosure for a while - that aliens are real, or that they already live among us. A big part of this discussion is the idea of ontological shock - the claim that facing certain truths can be so overwhelming that our society might collapse. The nature of reality might be just too much for us to accept. Is this idea correct? Will ontological shock follow if disclosure happens? Or do we have the means to adapt and transform? And how in general do we handle things that are alien or “other” in our lives?
