Anatomies of Air — Alice Brunello Luise at The Pocket Gallery

🌌 Karne Kunst presents Anatomies of Air, a captivating site-specific installation by Berlin-based Italian artist Alice Brunello Luise, at The Pocket Gallery. Developed specifically for Berlin's smallest gallery — a unique one-square-meter exhibition area that is open 24/7 — this exhibition transforms the compact architecture with suspended photographic mobiles and sculptural collage works that almost touch the floor.

The installation creates a layered environment characterized by movement, transparency, and visual fragmentation. Large suspended structures dominate the main exhibition space, while smaller elements extend throughout, giving an illusion of floating fragments spread across the gallery.

✨ Through her use of photography, collage, and translucent materials, Brunello Luise conjures delicate compositions where bodies appear fragmented, partially concealed, or dissolved into textures and shadows. Her works delve into themes of intimacy, emotional tension, and transformation through a spatially immersive approach.

Rather than standing as individual pieces, Anatomies of Air comes together as a unified immersive experience, engaging directly with the architecture of The Pocket Gallery.

About the Artist
Alice Brunello Luise (Italy, 1981) is a photographer and mixed media artist residing in Berlin. Her art investigates identity and resilience shaped by personal experience. A two-time first prize winner of the Mondadori Premio Arte (Italy), she has collaborated with artist Iris Brosch at prominent events like the Venice Biennale and has showcased her work internationally in cities like Milan, Venice, Helsinki, the UK, Norway, Berlin, and New York.
