Artist Talk: Traces of Belonging - The Data Story of Chinese Immigrants in the Bay Area
Join us for an enlightening artist talk and social gathering from 5 - 7 pm at Unbound Books and Coffee 格外书店! 📚☕
Traces of Belonging: The Data Story of Chinese Immigrants in the Bay Area is a unique data visualization exhibition that delves into the rich history, identity, and transformation of Chinese immigrants who have shaped the Bay Area. 🌉
From the first Chinese immigrant in Chinatown in 1848 to the present, where nearly one in ten Bay Area residents identify as Chinese, this exhibition highlights the untold stories and hidden patterns of resilience within the community, all shared through engaging data. 📊✨
Led by Youyou Zhou, a talented journalist and data visualization designer, the exhibition features timelines, maps, and posters that chart the evolution of SF Chinatown and the broader Chinese community.
Throughout the exhibition, there will be an interactive data installation where visitors can contribute their own stories, weaving their narratives into the fabric of this living history. 🗣️🧩
Come sit with the data and add your own voice to this important discussion. Don't forget to RSVP!
