Color Hunting + Photography Workshop

Join us for a fun and engaging workshop designed for all skill levels!

We start with a beginner-friendly crash course on phone photography, focusing on composition, lighting, and handy tips to enhance your shots. No prior experience or fancy gear is needed—just bring your phone!

After the course, you'll team up in groups of four, with each member assigned a color (red, blue, yellow, or green). Venture into downtown Vancouver to capture your assigned color in various forms—be it brick, signage, storefronts, or even a stranger's jacket. You’ll have one hour to explore and shoot!

Once back, we’ll regroup for a review session where we’ll display all the photos side by side, showcasing the city as a vibrant spectrum! 🌈

Introducing: The Stamp System 🎟️

Color Hunt marks the launch of The Creative Room's year-long stamp system. Collect stamps at events throughout the year, and the participant with the most stamps at the end will win a grand prize (including a merch pack and gift card). At this event, stamps will be awarded to the team with the most photos, along with individual awards for best composition and most creative shot.

• 📍 Location: Room 410, BCIT Downtown Campus, 555 Seymour Street (Photography zones will be a ~15 min walk away)
• 🎒 What to Bring: Your phone, comfortable walking shoes, and a keen eye!
• 👥 Who It's For: Designers, photographers, and BCIT DAMD students curious about photography. All skill levels are welcome!

Itinerary:

• 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Event intro, photography course, and instructions
• 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Color Hunting (including moving time)
• 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Photo review + Wrap up
