From Xiao Hong and Duanmu Hongliang to Shuang Xuetao, Ban Yu, Zheng Zhi, Zhao Song, and Yang Zhihan — from Zhao Benshan to Li Xueqin, from Dong Baoshi and Er Shou Mei Gui to director Geng Jun — they're all from Dongbei. Call it Dongbei Vaporwave or Dongbei Renaissance, doesn't matter. Dongbei people just want to set a table: the village slaughter pot (杀猪菜 shā zhū cài), crispy sweet-and-sour pork (锅包肉 guō bāo ròu), iron-pot stewed goose (铁锅炖大鹅 tiě guō dùn dà é), chicken and wild mushroom stew (小鸡炖蘑菇 xiǎo jī dùn mó gu), the trinity of eggplant, potato and pepper (地三鲜 dì sān xiān), wide glass noodles in sesame sauce (东北大拉皮 dōng běi dà lā pí), pork belly with vermicelli (猪肉炖粉条 zhū ròu dùn fěn tiáo), pickled cabbage with pork (酸菜白肉 suān cài bái ròu), grilled cold noodles off a street cart (烤冷面 kǎo lěng miàn), and a jet-black frozen pear (冻梨 dòng lí) that scares first-timers and converts everyone. Dongbei food has one defining feature: the portions are too big to finish alone. You need a crew.
For this Accent Dialect Salon, we found six Dongbei people living in New York: a queer woman who opened a Dongbei restaurant on the Lower East Side — her grandfather was head chef at the Chinese embassy in Germany, and she's bringing that flavor back to New York in the coolest way possible; a real estate agent with a Peking University BA and a UPenn literature PhD, aspiring stand-up comedian or social realist novelist; a theater producer who treats errenzhuan as a legitimate form of musical theater, burns $400k a year making pan-Asian drama, and produces at Lincoln Center on the side; a cultural strategist who runs a brand consultancy, manages an Asian community collective, and moonlights as a cyber fortune-teller; an award-winning poet and literature professor who believes fiction, like Dongbei stew, has no flavor if you skimp on the ingredients; and an AI engineer who writes code by day and makes music by night. Six Dongbei natives — equal parts local and avant-garde — gathered at the Lower East Side's newest Dongbei restaurant, Little Pine.

Little Pine is a modern Dongbei restaurant and bar on the Lower East Side, founded by Cathy Sun and Gao. Built around the food of Northeast China, it brings together classic Dongbei cooking, signature cocktails, late-night skewers, and a space designed for the kind of gathering that goes long.
The restaurant draws from Cathy's family memory. Her grandfather served as head chef at the Chinese embassy in Germany and cooked at home for years — raising Cathy's standards early. The space runs about 4,000 square feet across a main dining room, a bar, and a hidden basement bar. One person, ten people, a hundred people — Little Pine is built for all of it.

从萧红、端木蕻良到双雪涛、班宇、郑执、赵松、杨知寒,从赵本山到李雪琴,从董宝石、二手玫瑰到导演耿军,都是东北人。不管这属于东北蒸汽波还是东北文艺复兴,东北人只想摆一桌——杀猪菜、锅包肉、铁锅炖大鹅、小鸡炖蘑菇、地三鲜、东北大拉皮、猪肉炖粉条、酸菜白肉、烤冷面、冻梨。东北菜有一个特点:份量太大,必须一群人一起干。
此次重音方言角,我们找来了六个在纽约的东北人:一个在下东区开东北餐馆的拉拉女老板,外祖父是中国驻德使馆主厨,她把童年的味道用最酷的方式带回纽约;一个手握北大本科、宾大文学博士学位的房产经纪,未来的脱口秀演员或社会现实主义批判作家;一个把二人转当音乐剧来做的剧场制作人,公司每年烧四十万美金做亚裔戏剧,同时在林肯中心兼任制作人;一个做文化品牌策划、运营亚裔社区、副业赛博算命的活动制作人;一个获奖诗人和文学教授,相信"文学就跟东北炖菜似的,料下少了没味儿";还有一个白天写AI代码、晚上做音乐的大厂工程师。六个东北土味先锋,齐聚下东区新晋东北餐馆「小松 Little Pine」。

嘉宾介绍:
Cathy Sun 出生于辽宁铁岭,从小在外祖父的厨房和东北小城的人情味中长大。外祖父曾担任中国驻德国大使馆主厨,家人与邻里围坐一桌、热闹相聚的生活方式,也成为她对“家”和“美食”最深刻的记忆。
离开东北后,Cathy 先后在天津、北京和美国求学,获得大众传播与公共关系学双硕士学位,并长期从事金融与地产领域工作。多年后,她选择回到自己最熟悉、也最想念的味道,与家人共同在美东地区经营餐饮品牌。
2025 年,Cathy 在曼哈顿 Lower East Side 创办 Little Pine,致力于把地道东北菜、现代鸡尾酒和东北人热情豪爽的社区文化带到纽约,让更多人在这里找到烟火气,也找到大笑和相聚的理由。

爽姐:黑龙江伊春著名“不务正业”女中登。
拥有北大本科、宾大博士、博后及前大学讲师的豪华学历,却选择在房产中介行业发光发热。
拥有毒舌喜剧人的灵魂,逢年过节唯一的温情就是包顿饺子。目前正在以房产经纪的身份潜伏人间,终极目标是攒够素材,转行去当社会现实主义批判作家或者脱口秀演员。

Alison Yueming Qu曲悦鸣
来自吉林省吉林市船营区德胜门后迁去沈阳,因喜爱美国乡村音乐14岁移民美国田纳西,依旧是你认识乡音最重的东北人(且自评英语并没有东北口音)。
长期以东北老姨和刘老根大舞台心态经营美国戏剧(谁能说二人转不是一种音乐剧呢),以“话不能掉地下”,“大大方方的”,“不能样人笑幻”,“谁不同意就干他”等人生方针,作为创始人·执行总监为波士顿泛亚裔戏剧公司CHUANG Stage推出年均燃烧40万美金的话剧和音乐剧项目,并在纽约林肯中心兼任制作人,同时还是一个上古lo娘和偶像厨。

Mouhui Sun 大慧

大慧 — 文化策展人 + 品牌营销活动制作人。复旦本科,SVA 社会创新设计 MFA。在纽约攒了个亚裔文化社区 AAAAH, 前阵子还顺手接了一份华人周报。日常爱好:八卦 + 八字, 正在努力当赛博算命教教主。

我来自一个"算不算东北"能吵二十年的城市。常被错认成山东人——所以咱俩,可能是老乡,也可能根本不是。

我那部分做成假正经"庭审"——《大连涉嫌叛逃东北案》。我当公诉人,全场当陪审团举红绿牌投票定罪,中间穿插大连话听力抢答(答对发小吃焖子-我自己准备),最后二次投票看把多少人说动了。
孙冬,教授,诗人,译者。曾获得第八届扬子江诗学奖等多种奖项。我老家东北那旮瘩的,后来溜达到南京扎根儿了。论爱好,那真是有点“杂食动物”属性——艺术我稀罕,美食我不拒,见着好馆子比见着亲戚都亲。白天整点正经活儿:做做翻译和写写评论,晚上脑瓜子一热,鼓捣小说、诗歌和非虚构写作。我一直觉得,文学这玩意儿就跟东北炖菜似的,料下少了没味儿。小说、诗歌得有人味儿,非虚构得有真事儿,翻译还得让两种语言坐一桌唠嗑、较劲。

Terry Ma,成长于东北油田城市黑龙江大庆。机器人专业出身,目前从事人工智能相关工作。白天与算法和 AI 打交道,晚上刷东北菜视频解馋。从东北到纽约,从机器人到AI,离开东北多年后发现,口音会变,身份会变, 地址会变,但东北人的底层代码似乎很难卸载。相信东北不只是一个地理概念,更是一种持续影响人生的底层系统。
