Drew McDowall, known as a vital force in the avant-garde music scene and a key figure in Coil, crafts his music as a form of ritual. His creations are more about evocation than composition, drawing from memory and the ethereal threads of electronic sound. With an expansive career marked by fearless innovation, McDowall creates haunting atmospheres that weave together terror and tenderness, shaping each piece like a magical incantation.

Having emerged from Glasgow’s punk scene, McDowall journeyed through the UK's industrial landscape, collaborating with legends such as Psychic TV and Current 93, before launching his own daring solo path. His recent works range from intricate pipe organ pieces to moving bagpipe laments (pibroch), all refracted through layers of dense electronic ritualism. His upcoming album, A Thread, Silvered and Trembling (2024), transforms traditional Gaelic mourning music into a profound elegy of destruction and renewal.

Based in Stockholm, Sonja Tofik is an innovative composer and experimental musician whose work navigates the realms of drone, feedback, and field recordings. Her music is an immersive journey that captures emotional and societal narratives through sustained tones. Following her debut EP Neuros (2017) and the full-length Anomi (2020), she honed her craft during a residency at Ina GRM in Paris, where she designed Grief Scenario for their advanced multichannel system. Her forthcoming album, Respire (2024), promises to further delve into harmonic tensions and the delicate balance of sound.

Currently pursuing electroacoustic composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Tofik intelligently utilizes feedback as both a creative resource and performance technique, creating a tactile and immersive listening experience. 🎧
