Festival Voices Tour Concert - the Auckland Youth Choir - Sunday 5 July 2026

Join us for a captivating afternoon as the Auckland Youth Choir (AYC) graces the stage at Christ Church St Laurence!

🌟 The choir, established in 1984, consists of over 130 talented singers aged 16 to 27 and is recognized as one of the leading unauditioned choirs in Aotearoa New Zealand. With a reputation for innovative programming and notable collaborations, AYC is on a mission to bridge young vocalists into the world of professional choral music.

🎤 Their selected repertoire for the concert includes remarkable pieces such as:

• The Wheel that Moves the Sun and Stars (Eric William Barnum)
• O Nata Lux (Anna Lapwood)
• Kyrie and Heilig – from Die Deutsche Liturgie (Felix Mendelssohn)
• Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi (Wī Te Tau Huata)
  and many more!

🌍 AYC has made waves not just locally, but internationally too, with performances at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. Recently, they were honored with a Gold Medal at the World Choir Games in 2024.

💫 Under the artistic direction of David Squire and supported by Claire Caldwell and Kasey Hani Lui, AYC is committed to nurturing the future of the arts through mentorship programs and commissioning new works for New Zealand composers.
