About the event

Rocks Ain't Dead but tell many stories, if you know their language. From fiery beginnings to eons of weathering and deposition, rocks record a fascinating tale of time, pressure, deformation, and mineral wealth.

Join us for a full day geological adventure and workshop to learn how to:

  • Identify rocks 🪨
  • Understand basic geological principles 📚
  • Explore various rock minerals 🌟
  • Learn about fossilization 🦴

There will be hands-on interaction with a variety of rocks and minerals, and a short guided walk in the reserve.

This workshop will also delve into the stunning geology of the Western Cape and Great Karoo, examining various rock strata and their meanings. A delightful coffee/tea break with some delectable treats will be included! ☕🍰

Cost: R450 / person (Includes entrance fee to the reserve and hiring of the lecture hall)

Booking is essential: RSVP by Friday 11 September 2026.

What to bring:

  • Pen & Notebook ✍️
  • Appropriate walking shoes/boots for a short field excursion 👟
  • Own Lunch 🍴

NB: A minimum of 10 paid participants is required to make the workshop feasible. If fewer than that register, it will be postponed. For more information, contact Andreas Groenewald at info@gantouwtoursexcursions.co.za or 0724360638.
