Girls in Airports
Girls in Airports is a talented Danish ensemble celebrated for their immersive and transformative live performances. Their unique sound flows seamlessly between jazz, ambient, and folk traditions while resisting categorization. This is a result of their long-term, collective approach that cherishes curiosity, cultural openness, and the art of making music together.
At the heart of the group is a distinctive instrumentation featuring vintage keys, saxophone, and a wide variety of global percussion. The iconic warmth of Mathias Holm’s Wurlitzer, enhanced through analogue pedals, harmonizes with Victor Dybbroe’s evolving textures and rhythms, creating a vibrant soundscape. The saxophone melodies and compositions of Martin Stender resonate with a spiritual essence — at times serene and spacious, while at other moments ecstatic and improvisational.
