Discover the magical sound of the handpan in a fun, welcoming workshop with Sew Handpan School NYC. This experience is perfect for complete beginners and also great for anyone who already has some musical background and wants to explore something new.

No experience is needed—just curiosity and a love for music. You’ll learn the story behind the handpan, how it’s played, and how to create beautiful sound with the correct touch and technique.

From the very beginning, you’ll be playing real music—simple melodies, rhythms, and guided improvisation that help you feel confident and creative. We’ll also play together as a group, so you can experience the joy of jamming and making music in harmony with others. Each participant will have their own handpan during the workshop, and all instruments are provided.

If you own a D Celtic Minor handpan, you’re welcome to bring it.

By the end of the session, you’ll be able to play a melody, improvise your own music, and join a group jam—leaving with a real sense of achievement and inspiration to continue your musical journey.

Katerina Babaytseva is a handpan teacher, performer, and founder of Sew Handpan School NYC. She has introduced hundreds of students to the handpan through engaging workshops and group classes throughout New York City.
