"This is not only Horace Andy's best album in 40 years, but it is also a work of lasting power."
— Mojo, on Midnight Rocker
Few voices in reggae carry the weight, fragility and spiritual depth of Horace Andy — affectionately known as "Sleepy". High, devotional and instantly recognisable, his voice has journeyed from the legendary Studio One sound systems of Jamaica to the record-breaking albums of Massive Attack, transcending generations whilst never losing its soul.
Recording since the late 1960s, Andy forged his reputation with cornerstone Studio One classics such as "Skylarking", "Every Tongue Shall Tell" and "Mr. Bassie". His extraordinary later partnership with Massive Attack brought his voice to a worldwide audience far beyond reggae — and he remains the only artist to appear on all five Massive Attack albums, making him a singular bridge between roots, dub and trip-hop.
For this rare Boisdale appearance, Andy is joined by the Dub Asante Band featuring Matic Horns, delivering brass power, deep rhythmic authority and serious weight to a set spanning beloved classics and his more recent, spacious sound.
Expect timeless tracks including "Skylarking", "Every Tongue Shall Tell" and "Mr. Bassie", alongside material from his critically acclaimed later catalogue:
This is roots reggae stripped to its essence: voice, bass, brass and spirit — delivered by one of the genre's true originals.
