
Intro to Woodworking w/Erik: Make a Cutting Board!
Join us for a hands-on beginner woodworking class where you'll craft your very own wooden cutting or bread board! 🥖✨ This class focuses on basic concepts and the safe use of woodshop equipment, providing you with essential skills and knowledge, including:
- Table, Band, & Miter Saws
- Planer
- Jointer
- Orbital Sander
- Using wood glue and clamps
- Applying finish
- Router/Router cabinet (optional)
- Drill press (optional)
Class Structure 🌟
In this single group session, the whole cohort will collaborate on constructing their boards step by step with support from the instructor. You can choose to create a cutting board from a single piece of wood or do a "glue-up" from multiple strips of different hardwoods.
Lunch Break 🍽️
There will be a one-hour lunch break for takeout, so please inform us of any allergies or sensitivities in advance.
Optional Instructor Office Hours 📅
The instructor will offer one optional "office hour" session by appointment to provide further guidance on your projects.
Prerequisites ✅
- No woodworking experience necessary! All supplies and safety equipment will be provided.
- Please wear closed-toed shoes, remove dangling jewelry, and tie back long hair for safety. Wear comfortable, warm clothing that can get dusty.
- Age Requirement: 16+ (Parents must accompany minors. Discounted tickets available for those making their own board.)
