About the event
Join us for 4 Saturdays of celebration and connection! Immerse yourself in the joyous spirit of our community at the Juneteenth: Dance as Resistance gatherings. ✊
Each gathering will feature:
- 🎥 A film showing of a GWDC piece of choreography
- 💃 An interactive presentation on Black Resistance through dance & GWDC's lineage
- 🌟 Dance instruction with GWDC choreography (participate standing or in a chair!)
- 🎶 A soothing sound bath
- 🍽️ A shared meal to nourish our bodies and spirits
Let’s honor our liberation, strength, hope, and collective power through dance!
Gathering Schedule:
- June 27th: My Country 'Tis of Thee / Still I Rise - Honoring silenced voices
- July 11th: Shelter In Place - Exploring gentrification, displacement & homelessness
- July 25th: A Ballad for John Henry - Tracing the lineage from slavery through incarceration
- August 8th: #DanceTheVote
