About this Club

Collagers, crafters, and journalers are all welcome at this junk journal gathering in partnership with Creative Mornings! 🎨

This is a space to use markers, crayons, paints, magazines, receipts, photos, and any other found materials you want to bring to life in your journal. There’s no right or wrong way to do it—everyone’s journal will look different! The goal is to provide a low-pressure, creative outlet where we can step away from our phones, use our hands, and create something fun, personal, and uniquely our own.

I discovered junk journaling a few months ago, and it quickly became my favorite hobby. Working in a corporate creative field, I often find myself in a cycle of feedback and revisions, which can take the joy out of creating. Junk journaling offers a space to create freely, without pressure or outside opinions.

✔️ An optional prompt and inspiration to kick things off, followed by dedicated time to create at your own pace.

🎒 WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING

✔️ Bring your own journal (any size, lined/unlined).

✔️ Scissors & glue stick (limited supply available if you forget).

✔️ Markers, pens, crayons, stickers, and anything you can glue into your pages like receipts, flyers, photos, newspapers, or magazines.

✔️ I will bring some materials to share, making the experience more fun and collaborative!

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Hello! I’m Shaunah, originally from Detroit and now based in New York, where I’ve spent the past 15 years working in advertising as a writer. Creativity has always been a core part of how I express myself.

One of my biggest passions is bringing like-minded people together. Through my (now retired) nonprofit, Women Who Create, I organized events, workshops, and networking opportunities for creative women. I’ve also hosted women’s circles and became a women’s guidance facilitator during the pandemic, deepening my interest in creating supportive and intentional spaces.

Hosting this club feels like a natural extension of that. I’m especially interested in creating a space where art and connection come together—something that feels a little meditative, a little healing, and fun. Creative Mornings has been a meaningful outlet for me to stay inspired and reconnect with my own creativity, and I’m excited to bring people together who are navigating their own creative paths here in New York.
