LIGHTLESS, Nàire, Glare of the Sun

LIGHTLESS:Coming from its initial state as a solo project ofChristian, Lightless became a band based inDresden, Germany, in late 2021. Their musicoffers a unique blend between Doom and BlackMetal, with noticeable influences by Sludge andPost Metal. Songwriting is typically elaboratedduring regular jam sessions. Hereby, the timbrediscontinuously meanders between harsh/rudeand heavy/slow sections, with the addition ofatmosphere through clean and drone partscreating vast landscapes of melancholy. Thelyrics reflect impressions of both every-day lifeand overall societal issues. We live in a worldabout to die sooner than later: conflicts, wars,extremist political perspectives, corruption,bullshit,lifestyle, climate change,contamination, destruction of habitats - this listis a shear endless one. Many countries are at thebrink of destabilization. Facts are widelyignored, and freedom of speech is abused, withstakeholders and even scientist showingtendencies of mass manipulation. Lightlessprimarily addresses these conflicts and the riskof a desolated earth linked to it.Shortly after consolidating the first songs, acouple of first shows followed in 2022. Givenpositive resonances, the session EP “Descent toinsignificance” was released in August 2022.With this release, Lightless were able to gainrecognition in the local scene and could raisefurther opportunities for live shows. A two-digitnumber of shows followed in 2023 and 2024,sharing the stage partially with well-known(inter)national acts. This provided additionalrecognition beyond the borders of their homefederal state. In winter 2024/25 recordings for“A foreseen loss” were carried out at the band’srehearsal place. This debut full-length albumwas then released on April 30, 2025, andsubsequently promoted during a three-day tourthrough the Czech Republic.
