ABOUT MATISYAHU

Creativity is like a fire in a fireplace: you have to tend it or it will go out. For nearly two decades, Matisyahu has kept his creative spirit aflame by evolving his sound, blending genres, and pushing the boundaries of musical traditions.

His latest release, Hold The Fire, along with the single “Fireproof,” is inspired by a fire dream drawn from his Old Testament roots, significantly influencing his spiritual and creative journey since he began his recording career in 2004. His breakout hit, "King Without a Crown," reached the Billboard charts in 2005 and marked the beginning of an exciting journey.

Growing up near New York City, Matthew Miller was influenced by jam bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead. His exploration of Bob Marley and reggae revealed parallels with the messaging of Rastafarianism, deeply rooted in the Old Testament. Matisyahu's music, especially in his early albums and the Grammy-nominated Youth in 2006, captures the essence of both reggae and his spiritual Jewish heritage.

With hits like “One Day,” streamed over 150 million times on Spotify, Matisyahu continues to deliver high-energy performances, incorporating improvisation and a blend of reggae, hip-hop, alt rock, and inventive pop. His new EP, Hold The Fire (set for release in February 2024), reflects on celebrity, artistic success, and the miraculous feeling of connection to his people that keeps his creative fire burning bright.
