MONDAY - CUBAN SALSA with SABOR CUBANO

These are weekly Casino (Cuban) Salsa classes focusing on techniques, figures, rhythms, music and body movements of Cuban Salsa.WHEN: 2 options Mondays TIME: FUNDAMENTAL BASICS 5:30PM - 6:30PMFIGURES and Rueda de Casino 6:30PM-7:30pm.LOCATION: SALON ORTEGA National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) 1701 8th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102(Salon Ortega): Park in the parking off 8th st. enter towards the restaurant la Fonda del Bosque) Salon Ortega is in the courtyard.No Partner or previous experience necessary, just desire to learn, have fun, and dance with amazing people who are also interested in dancing Casino Salsa!WE WILL:Learn important fundamental elements (patterns, steps, and musicality) for a solid foundation in Casino. Salsa. familiarize ourselves with music and rhythms (clave).start with basics Casino steps and incorporate new basic elements each week. learn the roles and responsibilities for Lead / Follow so each person understands the importance of their part.incorporate dancing separate from your partner (Salsa suelta aka shines). Further in our progress we will incorporate Cuban Rumba and Afro-Cuban dances influenced by folkloric traditions in Cuba also incorporated into this style of Salsa.learn figuras (combinations) that are usually identified by colorful Spanish words that characterize or describe the movement, for example: the call “Sombrero” refers to the HAT figure. dancing "a tiempo" or "contra tiempo" (with time or against time) or dancing with "the melody" or with "the clave". Faster Timba music is usually danced "a tiempo".
