MTF x HONEYJOON Movie Date: Singles Afterparty

Everyone wants to meet someone through friends, in real life… maybe at the movies. So we’re making that happen at a singles-only afterparty following a theatrical screening of the award-winning HONEYJOON: a smart, sexy/flirty, laugh-out-loud emotional rollercoaster... and the perfect date movie to open up deeper convos about life, connection, and flirting. Grab a friend and join us for a special movie date experience. After sharing the movie at the IFC Center together, enjoy an open bar at The Parkgate private bar downstairs, hors d'oeuvres, a “Q&A” mini-date activity inspired by the film (with a prize), and mingling with other singles.

All attendees of this event must attend the screening prior to this singles afterparty — it is key to the shared experience of HONEYJOON Movie Date.
This singles event is for men seeking women, and women seeking men. If you sign up with a plus-one of the opposite sex, you will be automatically admitted until the event is full. Individual sign-ups will be admitted on a rolling basis to ensure we maintain an equal ratio.

7:00-9:00: Screening + Q&A with director Lilian T. Mehrel (also single!) at the IFC Center. Buy your ticket for HONEYJOON June 11 at 7pm here.
9:00-9:30: Walk (3 min) to The Parkgate downstairs bar and check-in (with your plus-one, unless admitted solo). (Must each show your movie tickets). Please arrive on time.
9:30-10:00: Mini-date activity (some structured intros to talk to new people about the shared movie experience you just had)
10:00-11:00: Afterparty (like any movie premiere afterparty, except everyone is single and you’re officially encouraged to flirt. Meet new people, give your live Letterboxd reviews, take polaroid pics, check back in with your plus-one, or make some new friends or more-than-friends... up to you!)

Q: Why do you ask us to bring a plus-one?
A: Practically, this ensures that our events are always gender-balanced and that everyone has been vetted by a friend. More broadly, however, it's our firm belief that even if you haven't met "your person" yet, you probably know someone who would be great for someone else. We want to meet them!
We also value the power of community. We don't believe that dating should be an isolated, anonymous experience, but rather an integrated and social one. If you're hoping to meet other people's great single friends, we require that you bring one for someone else to meet as well.
Q: What if I don't have anyone to bring?
A: Individuals can sign up, but they will be admitted on a rolling basis to ensure the ratio.
We get that it might be a challenge, but we encourage you to keep your eyes open for great single friends you may have overlooked. Is there a college pal, coworker, or friend-of-a-friend you might not be thinking of? Try asking around, and you might be surprised by who wants to join you.
This should go without saying, but please only bring people you like and trust. If you wouldn't be happy to see a friend date them, please don't bring them. They don't have to be your best friend, but you should know them well enough to vouch for them.
Q: Can I still come to the afterparty even if I didn't see the movie?
A: This is a singles event based on the shared experience of watching the movie together, so you and your plus-one have to have seen the movie to attend. If you have seen HONEYJOON on a different date, please email hello@met-through-friends.com to let us know.
Q: What age range is this event for?
A: This event is tailored for people in their late twenties to late thirties or so.
Q: What genders/orientations is this event for?
A: This event is designed for those who identify as women interested in men or men interested in women. However, if you do not fall in either of these groups, take a look at the rest of our lineup--we regularly plan events for a more diverse array of identities!
Q: How many people will be there?
A: We cap the afterparty at 50 guests. In keeping with our friends-of-friends ethos, we want this to feel like a house party: big enough that you'll meet plenty of new people, but small enough to feel intimate.
This singles event is complimentary, but you need to have purchased a movie ticket to HONEYJOON to participate. No refunds will be granted. You are responsible for finding your own plus-one, and you will be neither refunded nor granted admission if you arrive without an appropriate plus-one or prior approval.
