About Taylor Mali:

Taylor Mali is a distinguished poet, known for his appearances on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. As a four-time National Poetry Slam Champion, he has authored five collections of poetry and the award-winning chapbook, The Whetting Stone, which earned the 2017 Rattle Chapbook Prize. Besides poetry, he wrote the acclaimed nonfiction book, What Teachers Make: In Praise of the Greatest Job in the World. In April 2012, Mali inspired a movement by convincing 1,000 people to become teachers and donated 12 inches of his hair to the American Cancer Society. He currently resides in Brooklyn, where he curates the Page Meets Stage reading series at the Bowery Poetry Club.
