About the event

Join us for the inaugural session of our exciting winter course, "How Do We Art: Materials, Methods, and the Stories They Tell! 🎨

About the Course:

Each artwork label at the Denver Art Museum showcases the materials that tell a larger human story. From traditional mediums like oil paint and bronze to everyday items such as bottle caps and pantyhose, explore their profound meanings.

In this engaging three-session course, delve into the museum’s collections, interactive lectures, and hands-on explorations. We’ll examine the question, “How’s it made?” — discovering what materials can reveal about global interactions, scientific progress, and the evolving concept of art over time. Leave with a refreshed outlook on artistic collections and innovative approaches to art.

About This Session (#3):

Celebrate Denver’s Month of Printmaking (Mo’Print) with an in-depth exploration of printmaking techniques and histories! 🖼️📜 Before the rise of social media, printmaking transformed communication, accessibility to images, and creative expression.

In this session, learn about various printmaking methods, including engraving, woodcut, lithography, and screen printing. Consider how these techniques have been utilized for advocacy, advertising, documentation, and the sharing of beauty.
