About the event

🌟 Join us for a heartfelt evening of remembrance! 🌟 Gather at 19:00 for a service starting at 19:30 at the magnificent memorial in Robroyston, located just a quick two-minute walk from the iconic Wallace Well.

This poignant event commemorates the capture of William Wallaceβ€”a pivotal moment in Scottish history. On 3rd August 1305, Wallace was betrayed and taken to Dumbarton Castle, where his famous sword was left behind, before being transported to London for a sham trial and eventual execution.

πŸ“œ As we reflect on his defiance, we'll share powerful words from the book Lives of Scottish Worthies by Patrick Fraser Tytler, featuring Wallace's declaration:

β€œI cannot be a traitor, for I owe him no allegiance...”

This annual commemoration, organized by the Society of William Wallace (SOWW), allows us to honor his legacy through a short but meaningful service. Expect a speech from a member of the committee and an invited guest speaker. We encourage attendees to participate and share their thoughts, continuing the tradition of this gathering.
