The adventure begins at the Ward House, mere steps away from the site of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials hangings on Gallows Hill. As you wander, uncover dark secrets from the city’s past, culminating in a visit to the historic Gardner-Pingree House, where the infamous murder of Joseph White captivated not just Salem, but the entire nation in 1830.

Follow our expert guides as they take you into the very room where it happened and then explore our exhibition Salem Stories, where you'll see the actual club used by White's killers.

• Distance: Approximately 0.5 miles
• Duration: 1.5 hours
• Meeting Point: The anchor in front of East India Marine Hall on Essex Street.
• Accessibility: This tour involves walking on hard surfaces, and historic structures are not ADA accessible. Strollers are permitted but can't enter historic buildings. Areas may have low lighting and uneven surfaces.
• Listening Devices: Assisted listening devices are available on all tours.
