The Great and The Grand

✨ Experience Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, a vibrant piece inspired by the Cuban dance tradition in Veracruz, Mexico. This dynamic work evolves through rhythmic changes and features stunning instrumental solos, culminating in an exhilarating finale!

🎺 The concert showcases Ferdinand David’s Trombone Concertino, performed by Alex Caban, SUSO’s Principal Trombone. This piece, one of David’s enduring masterpieces, beautifully balances lyrical depth with technical brilliance in a style reminiscent of Mendelssohn.

🎼 The evening concludes with Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 9, “The Great”, celebrated for its expansive melodies and rhythmic motifs. Schubert referred to it as ‘a grand symphony’, setting the stage for an unforgettable performance.
