One day. A hundred-plus people who'd never otherwise share a room — founders, artists, operators, teachers, builders, people mid-reinvention — sat next to each other on purpose inside a 4,000-square-foot former rail station in the Bronx.
You'll walk out with three things:
A real portrait of yourself
A wall's worth of strangers who now know your actual story
At least one conversation you'll still be chewing on a year from now
Everyone arrives as a person first. You'll learn someone's deepest, weirdest, most honest thing long before you learn their job title — which is the whole point and frankly how it should always be.
Where it comes from
Every Field Note I make opens with one question: when do you feel most like yourself?
Every single time, within about thirty seconds, people drop the job description and start telling me their actual life. I've done it fifty times now — sat with someone for two or three hours, photographed them while we talked, gone home, and turned all of it into their story in my voice.
For a year and a half it has lived on a screen, buried under scrolls and clicks. I got tired of that. So I'm putting it in a room.
The day itself
Six hours, paced so it can actually breathe:
Lightning talks
Facilitated small-group conversations that go somewhere
Live music
Documentary portraits made all day long
A giant archive wall the whole room builds in real time
Lunch
Your portrait: Crux Forma Creative is set up on site all day making real ones. Yours, taken inside the day as it happens — an actual artifact of you, from the day you decided to show up. The opposite of grimacing against a gray backdrop in some office park.
The space
Bronxlandia: a former rail station with 17-foot arched ceilings and garage doors that open onto the street. Two stops from 125th. The space alone is worth the trip.
📅 September 26, 11am–5pm
Tickets: pay-what-you-can, $100–$360. You pick the number.
Pricing my own work is the hardest part of all of this, so I'll be straight about how it shakes out:
$100 — low enough that anyone can choose to be here, high enough that you're choosing it on purpose
$360 — if you can swing it, you're quietly holding the door open for someone who's paying the floor
The whole magic of the day depends on who's in the room, and the range is what keeps that mix wide. Pick where you land. I trust you.
Every ticket gets you:
Your portrait — real documentary photography by Crux Forma Creative, made in the room, yours to keep
A spot in the archive — permanently part of the Field Notes record, beside 50+ people I've sat with
The full program — talks, conversations, music, with real room to breathe between them
The room — a hundred-plus people, assembled on purpose across industries, backgrounds, and boroughs
Stay for the private patron dinner after, if that's your speed.
The world keeps what you made. Field Notes keeps who you are.
