Our experienced biologists and friendly volunteer naturalists will guide you through hands-on exploration of the intertidal zone, revealing the astonishing variety of marine life that inhabits our waters. πŸ¦€πŸŒŠ

During this journey, you’ll:

  • Learn about beach etiquette
  • Touch and examine captivating creatures such as sea stars, crabs, and sea anemones
  • Discover their unique adaptations and behaviors
  • Understand the challenges facing ocean ecosystems and how you can help protect them 🐠🌍

This tour is suitable for all ages and skill levels, making it perfect for families, school groups, or anyone passionate about the natural world. Whether you’re a seasoned beachcomber or a first-time explorer, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for our local marine environment. 🌟

What to bring:

  • Closed-toe shoes (rain boots, water shoes, or old sneakers)
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Layers for changing weather
  • Snack if you need one πŸͺ

Program Details:

  • Duration: Approximately 60-90 minutes (feel free to leave early)
  • Suggested donation: $2 per person or $5 per family are appreciated, but the program is always free! πŸ™Œ

Getting to the Beach:

  • Take 6th Ave past the playground and Titlow Lodge toward the beach entrance on the other side of the railroad tracks.
  • Park in designated spots and avoid blocking private property.
  • Cross the railroad tracks with caution and only when it’s safe.
  • Look for Harbor WildWatch staff in blue near the picnic tables/shower station at the beach entrance.

Terrain:

  • A short, steep sandy slope leads to the beach, leveling out with a paved walk to a lower access point. If we head to Surf Perch, expect a beautiful forest trail leading to an intertidal zone with various terrains.
