Večer legend: Vladimir Merta + Honza Hrubý

Vladimír "Vlada" Merta and Honza Hrubý are prominent figures in Czech folk and alternative music.

Vlada Merta (1946) is a singer-songwriter, composer, and journalist. He is one of the most important authors of Czech folk music, known for his poetic, often existential lyrics and distinctive style. He was active in the 1960s, later in exile, and after 1989.

Honza Hrubý (1951) is a violinist, composer, and arranger. He is best known for his collaboration with Vladimír Merta, but also with bands and projects on the borderline between folk, rock, and world music. His violin playing is very characteristic of Merta's work.

Together they formed (and occasionally still form) a powerful songwriting and performing duo, where Merta's songs meet Hrubý's distinctive violin arrangements.
