Thanks to Open House Prague, visitors will have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at one of the world’s largest sports stadiums. A guided tour of the Strahov Grand Stadium will take participants to the presidential box, the west grandstand, and the upper tiers. You’ll have the chance to learn more about the history of this colossal structure, which has hosted All-Sokol Gatherings, Spartakiads, concerts, and military parades in the past, and whose original section is now a protected historic site. One more surprise awaits at the end of the tour.
Tom Bílý will serve as the tour guide at the stadium.
Practical Information:
- The meeting point is in front of the gatehouse of the Velký Strahov Stadium, located near the bridge connecting it to the Evžen Rošický Stadium. You can drive into the parking lot in front of the gatehouse (and under the bridge); parking is free. If you arrive by bus, please be aware that you will need to walk around part of the stadium (there is no bus stop on the entrance side of the stadium). The guide’s phone number will be listed on your ticket in case of an “emergency.” A rough map of the meeting place is available on the organizer’s website.
- The estimated duration of the event is approximately 1.5 hours.
- In certain areas, please exercise caution due to the condition of the facility and follow the guide’s instructions. Entry to the stadium is at your own risk. We recommend wearing appropriate footwear—preferably hiking boots—due to the uneven surface (high heels are completely unsuitable).
- Pets are strictly prohibited.
- Group capacity is limited; tickets can only be purchased in advance.
- In the event of low interest, the organizer reserves the right to cancel the tour no later than 48 hours before the start of the event. Ticket holders will be contacted, and the information will also be posted on the organizer’s website.
- At selected events, the organizer takes photographs and/or videos for documentation and promotional purposes. More information here.
