Viewing: Two Short Films: Expanding Sanctuary and Second Responders (Summerville, SC)

Join us for a thought-provoking evening as we showcase two impactful short documentaries:

1. Expanding Sanctuary 🌍 - Follow the journey of an immigrant mother who rises as a community leader amidst the campaign to stop the Philadelphia police database from sharing information with ICE. This film highlights the inspiring struggle and success of a Latinx immigrant community in their quest for legislative change and family protection.

2. Second Responders 🎓 - Delve into the heart-wrenching experiences of public school teachers following the 2023 Lewiston, Maine, mass shooting. This documentary sheds light on the often overlooked emotional toll on educators who had to become emotional anchors for their grieving students while grappling with their own trauma and uncertainty.

The screening will be followed by a community discussion, providing a space for reflection and dialogue.
