Tour Description:
From a colony where skipping church could land you in jail to a commonwealth that helped pioneer religious freedom, Hanover County’s fight for liberty was Virginia's fight for liberty. Follow the Voices of Freedom Tour through historic churches and landscapes where courageous dissenters demanded rights that helped inspire the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom and lay the groundwork for the First Amendment protections we hold today.
