About the event

Join us for a deeply engaging workshop that dives into the transformative power of meditation in the face of trauma. 🌱

How does meditation facilitate healing? How can contemplative practices enhance self-regulation during intense emotional experiences? We’ll explore the significant role of devotion in both recovery and resilience. During this participatory workshop, facilitated by Nelson González, founder of The Crossings Collective, we'll focus on zazen—Buddhist meditation as practiced in Zen communities—to nurture the development of wounded healers. These are individuals who utilize their own experiences of suffering to foster healing in others.

Through direct meditation practice, reflective exercises, and collaborative inquiry, we will uncover the profound offerings of meditation that often elude traditional mindfulness methods.

About The Crossings Collective

The Crossings Collective is a dedicated not-for-profit organization striving to create islands of cohesive belonging. We translate the profound wisdom of world spiritual traditions into practices that are accessible, relevant, and trauma-informed, specifically for marginalized communities.

Our Focus:

  • Supporting Wounded Healers: Practitioners who transform their suffering into the capacity to heal others through immersive engagement with wisdom lineage practices.
  • Healing Journey Cartographers: Experienced practitioners who skillfully sequence and integrate contemplative practices in a trauma-sensitive manner.
  • Curating Initiatory Experiences: Land-based ceremonies led by Two Spirit and Indigenous elders, conducted with deep respect and rigor.

Current Offerings Include:

  • Bi-weekly workshops on specific spiritual practices (Heart Lab, San Francisco — every other Wednesday)
  • A four-month community of care for individuals crafting a personal vow or life path as wounded healers.
  • Initiation experiences such as medicine wheel sweat lodges, guided solo wilderness vision quests, and integration sessions (Carmel Valley and Olema, Fall 2026).
  • Sacred land pilgrimages across inspiring spots like Tassajara, Green Gulch, Olema, Big Sur, Point Reyes, New Mexico, and Colombia. 🌍
