About (le) poisson rouge

(le) poisson rouge is a live-music venue and multimedia art cabaret at 158 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village, founded in 2008 by musicians Justin Kantor and David Handler. It occupies the former site of the legendary Village Gate jazz club, which operated on the block from the late 1950s until 1993. Known for bringing contemporary classical music into a club setting, its flexible room can host a seated classical set followed by a standing rock, jazz or DJ set, with programming spanning classical, jazz, electronic, indie rock, hip-hop, film and comedy.
