🌊 Crying by the Sea البكاء على حافة البحر

Join us for a unique theatrical experience where two audiences come together simultaneously across continents! 🎟️✨

Two audiences enter their respective theatres at the same time, separated by vast distances but united through digital projection. As they step into their theatres, all they find is a digital display on the back wall, where they can see each other — transcending borders in real-time.

This performance, Crying by the Sea, addresses the ocean of sorrow linked to socio-economic migration through poetic narratives about distance, loss, borders, and longing. Participants will receive a script and are invited to read aloud texts about crossing borders — both physical and metaphysical — alongside the audience in the mountain town of El Kef, Tunisia. 📜🌍 You are encouraged to read in Danish, English, and Arabic.

Following the reading, you'll have the chance to rewrite the script, creating a new version for the next audience to experience. ✍️🌟

The production has emerged from collaborative workshops held in Denmark and Tunisia, striving to transform the theatre space into a platform for collective grief processing and a venue for fostering new connections and encounters. 🤝💔 The artistic team has even crafted the live stream of the performance from scratch, establishing self-organized online infrastructures for artistic meetings.

• Simultaneous shows at Teaterøen (Magnet), Copenhagen (Denmark) and Theatre du Poche, El Kef (Tunisia)
• The performance runs until the last audience member leaves, and then it continues online at theatrebuilding.com.
