Margaret Arnold, known throughout her youth as Peggy Shippen, has been depicted by history as either a naïve bystander or a crafty mastermind behind her husband's treasonous actions. Relying solely on primary sources, Char Weigel reveals the complexities of this intriguing woman. Her narrative goes beyond the myths, uncovering a story filled with espionage, double agents, and covert communications between Arnold and the British.
About the Performer
Char Weigel is a distinguished historian who regularly shares groundbreaking research on Benedict Arnold’s treason and the Revolutionary War history of the lower Hudson Valley. She serves as the Vice President of Special Projects for Revolutionary Westchester 250 and is a board member of the Friends of the Odell Rochambeau Museum.
