Dive into a comprehensive three-day clinic devoted to the anatomy, trimming, and hoof protection for both equine practitioners and enthusiasts. This program is a vital part of the beginner series for PHCP students.

🗓️ Day Breakdown:
- Days 1 & 2: Exploring anatomy and practical trimming techniques.
- Day 3: Focus on hoof pathology, protection methods, and shoe removal.
🐴 Key Topics Include:
- Basic distal limb anatomy
- Hands-on exploration of anatomy via cadaver trimming and dissection
- Effective shoe removal techniques for the comfort of both horse and trimmer
- Transitioning horses to barefoot styles
- Various alternative hoof protection options
- Proper fitting and usage of hoof boots suited for performance or rehabilitation needs
- Techniques and timing for hoof casting
- Optimal padding strategies for various pathologies and rehab needs
- Casting and booting practiced on cadaver limbs
✔️ Prerequisites:
- Review the PHCP Introduction to Equine Diet and Lifestyle.
- Study the PHCP Introduction to Equine Hoof Anatomy.
- Familiarize yourself with distal limb anatomy via the Anatomy of the Equine resource. Consider acquiring online coursework and eBooks.
🎒 What to Bring:
- Dress appropriately as portions of the clinic will be held in a barn with live horses.
- Bring a chair (let us know if you need one), trimming tools, apron/towel, gloves, and safety glasses.
- If you have a cadaver limb you'd like to dissect, feel free to bring it along!
- Lunch: There will be a one-hour break! You can bring your lunch or enjoy a diner just 3 miles down the road.

For the best food and entertainment options, consider staying in downtown Bristol. You can also find a cozy B&B within walking distance of the farm or opt for more affordable hotel options located 20 minutes away.
✈️ Travel Recommendations:
- Flying into TRI airport is advisable; renting a car is recommended as Uber might be impractical.
Meet Your Instructor: Lorie Fleenor
An experienced PHCP practitioner and 8th generation farmer in Bristol, TN, Lorie is a dedicated advocate for equine health. She has been involved in hoof care since 2007 and hosts several clinics at her ranch annually, contributing actively to her local horse community.

Cancellations at least one month prior to the clinic receive a full refund. For cancellations between one month and two weeks ahead, a 50% refund applies. In the event of clinic cancellation, you will receive a full refund.
