Originally born as Yaw Atta-Owusu in Kumasi, he created a unique fusion of highlife, hip-hop, and funk in the early '90s that went largely unnoticed until its revival years later. After a DIY cassette release, Obaa Sima blended Twi rap with lo-fi beats and an Afro-futuristic vibe, sparking widespread interest after being reissued in 2015 by Awesome Tapes From Africa.

Despite achieving fame later in life, Ata Kak remains grounded, stating, “I don’t consider myself a legend, I’m just doing what I love.” His electrifying performances across European festivals showcase his passion and joyous sound.
