Breakfast Talk: How do we fund this art? (Hybrid)
Join us for an engaging breakfast conversation exploring the unique challenges of funding art that is experienced through touch! 🤔✨ Traditional models like galleries and theaters often fall short for forms of art that thrive in intimate settings, leaving us to question: could barber shop models, subscription services, or entirely new approaches be the answer?
As funding for the arts dwindles and artists seek innovative financing solutions, we invite you to dive deeper into questions like: how is art funded in a service economy? What roles do various economic frameworks play in shaping the financial landscape of creativity? 💰🎭
This discussion features three esteemed practitioners:
- Gustaf Tadaa Josefsson: Co-creator of Andetag, a permanent immersive exhibition in Stockholm, utilizing season passes and merchandise for funding.
- Kirsi Ihalainen: CEO of Tuntu Design and sound artist, creating interactive haptic and scent installations for venues like spas and airports.
- Johan Forsman: Artistic director of Skogen, where public performances are paired with meals, and founder of the tool-sharing platform Samarbetet.
The conversation will be moderated by Daniel Berg, an economic historian at Stockholm University, who will discuss these topics through the lens of varying economic models and their implications for art valuation. 🌍💬
