About the event

A special one-time walking tour of Vršovice.

This time, the tour will focus on architecture from the second half of the 20th century, and especially on the increasingly popular Brutalism! This period is characterized primarily by large volumes, concrete, metal, and corrugated metal. However, it can also include delicate works of art in public spaces, such as the sculptures and mosaics that were common at the time among residential buildings.

On the route from KD Eden to the Vlasta housing estate to Chemapol, visitors will be guided along the main street and through neglected corners by Matouš Pudil, a lover of distinctive Brutalist architecture and the creator of the Instagram profile PRGbrut.

And what will our association do with the money we raise from this walk? It will, of course, go to a good cause: the restoration of the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, which already looks quite presentable from the outside but still needs a lot of finishing touches, including a cross for the roof and new railings.

Practical Information:

  • Meeting point: in front of KD Eden
  • Guides: Kateřina Knoblochová and Matouš Pudil
  • Children under fifteen are free; strollers are welcome, but the terrain is more challenging for them. This is a charity walk; proceeds from admission will be used to repair the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows beneath Barrandov Rock

In the event of low interest, the organizer reserves the right to cancel the walk no later than 48 hours before it takes place. Information about any cancellation will be posted on GoOut, on the Facebook event page, and on the prazdnedomy.cz website in the “Walks” section.
