Crafting Memory Ware Pots

About the event

Join us in honoring Juneteenth with a unique memory ware workshop led by mixed-media collage artist Kat Ryals! 🌟 Dive into the art tradition that dates back to the early 19th century, exploring its connections to African and African American burial practices.

In this hands-on session, you'll create vessels rich with personal significance by embedding small keepsakes into your designs using non-toxic clay dough. Participants of all skill levels are welcome!

What to expect:

  • Materials Provided: Small terra cotta pots, decorative mosaic elements, and gloves.
  • Bring Your Own: Feel free to bring your own vessel and any cherished trinkets or keepsakes you'd like to embed.
  • Dress Code: Wear clothes suitable for an art activity, as this will be a hands-on experience!

Important: If you have a gluten allergy, please note that wheat flour will be used in the clay dough preparation.
