Ellinor Åslund: The Eternal Soup
🔮 Dive into the surreal world of Ellinor Åslund's Die Ewige Suppe, a puppet-theatre opera set in a bar. This unique performance features a ceramic puppet, designed after the artist herself, sharing fragmented tales of her life journey—from pregnancy through motherhood.
🌌 As the scene unfolds, encounter a captivating mix of characters: nurses, fairytale beings, ghosts from the Thirty Years’ War, nationalist booksellers, and bureaucrats. The poignant question arises from the child:
“Mamma, vad finns inuti min kropp?” — “Därinne finns kött och ben och blod och hela vida världen.”
(“Inside there is flesh and bone and blood and the whole wide world.”)
🎨 Personal experiences intertwine with universal themes, as intricate handcrafted porcelain puppets and layered music weave together an eternal soup of memories, dreams, and political realities.
