About the event

In northern Europe, on the eastern border of the EU, lies a small country called Estonia. Most of its territory is covered by dense forests, marshes, and bodies of water. Relative to its size, the population is about five times smaller than that of the Czech Republic. The beaches are long and deserted, and the forests are teeming with wildlife, including bears and moose. The cities offer a rich history, interesting culture, and culinary experiences. If you like beer, Estonia is the perfect place to sample brews from a variety of small breweries. Adventurers will be drawn to sea kayaking trips around the islands or through the local marshes. On the other hand, those seeking relaxation will surely appreciate the saunas and the tranquility of the forests. Many people are familiar only with the capital, but Estonia doesn’t end there—on the contrary, Tallinn is merely the gateway to this beautiful Nordic country.
Jiří Kalát (The Traveling Writer) lived in Estonia for a year and has made numerous trips to the country over the past few years. He returns regularly to Northern Europe, often with clients, with whom he explores the beautiful island of Saaremaa.

Jiří Kalát (1984) was born in Havlíčkův Brod and currently lives in Pardubice.
As the Traveling Writer, he enjoys giving talks to people who love to listen. He loves the Middle East and North Africa, though he enjoys wandering anywhere where he can experience adventure or learn something new. He is the author of the books: Everyone Here Lies, Chernobyl on Wheels, Three and a Half Arabarnas, and A Mosquito in the Cold. He contributes to several magazines and travel websites and gives lectures at festivals and various venues throughout the Czech Republic.
In his professional life, he teaches history at the Prague Humanities High School, works as a tour guide for travel agencies, and publishes.
