Step into the enchanting world of two remarkable Venetian painters, Giovanni Antonio Canal (Canaletto) and his nephew Bernardo Bellotto. Both artists skillfully combined scientific precision and creative artistry, using optical devices like the camera obscura to depict stunning city views.
While Canaletto made his mark in London, Bellotto showcased his talent in Dresden and Vienna, leaving an indelible impact on European art. This exhibition features rare international loans, many of which have never been displayed in Austria before.
Rediscover the intricate tales of the 18th-century city, seen through the eyes of these exceptional artists during a time of change and uncertainty in Europe.
