Formed in 1988, Eyehategod has become a cornerstone of the sludge metal genre, influencing various branches of heavy music. Their sound embodies pure sludge metal with distorted, down-tuned guitars that create a profound and intense atmosphere.

Their discography tackles themes that have remained relevant over the decades, from addiction and alienation to rage and survival. Early albums like In the Name of Suffering (1990), Take as Needed for Pain (1993), and Dopesick (1996) defined their unique identity, marked by slow riffs, heavy tempos, and nihilistic lyrics. Recent works, including Eyehategod (2014) and A History of Nomadic Behavior (2021), arose from years of touring amidst societal tensions and the pandemic.
