KRVAA’s Film Camp is an engaging, week-long program crafted for youth, centered around storytelling, media production, and preserving local history. Participants will dive into the legends, folklore, and personal experiences that shape the Kern River Valley community.
Program Goals:
- 🌟 Provide accessible, hands-on media education to local youth
- 🤝 Foster community engagement through interviews and storytelling
- 📚 Preserve local history, culture, and folklore
- 💪 Build confidence, communication, and teamwork skills
- 🎬 Create publicly shareable media that reflects the KRV community
Activities:
Participants will:
- 🛠️ Learn basic filmmaking skills, including storytelling, filming, and editing
- 🎤 Conduct interviews with local residents and stakeholders
- 🔍 Research historical and cultural topics
- 🎞️ Produce short documentary films (3–8 minutes)
- 🎉 Present their work at a community film premiere event
Expected Outcomes:
- 🎓 Training for 10–20 youth in basic media production
