Join us for an immersive eleven-day workshop tailored for those who have completed one of our comprehensive woodwork courses or possess confident woodworking skills! Under the guidance of seasoned carpenter and furniture maker Ruth Thomson, you’ll embark on a journey to create your own unique wood furniture piece. 🌳
What You Will Learn:
- Project Management: From sketching and technical drawing to crafting a cutting list and costing your project.
- Material Selection: A field trip to a timber yard to learn how to choose the best lengths of softwoods.
- Power Tools Proficiency: Safe and versatile use of routers, biscuit jointers, jigsaws, and more.
- Fabrication Techniques: Making jigs for precise shapes and utilizing workshop machines like the bandsaw and belt sander.
- Finishing Touches: Learn how to cut, assemble, sand, glue, and finish your project to perfection! ✨
Feel free to bring your personal project ideas! We will discuss your concepts, keeping in mind size limitations due to time and storage.
Materials Information: Each participant is responsible for their own materials; timber can be delivered if sourced externally. Note: MDF is not permitted in our workshop.
