Gravestone Preservation Workshop at the Lawrence Cemetery

Join the Bayside Historical Society for an engaging Gravestone Preservation Workshop held at the historic Lawrence Cemetery. Guided by the skilled conservator John Griffin from Griffin Gravestone Conservation, this hands-on workshop will equip participants with the knowledge and techniques needed to safely and respectfully clean historic gravestones using approved methods and materials.

Through both guided instruction and practical experience, attendees will learn important preservation techniques, standards of care, and the significance of maintaining these priceless cultural resources for future generations.

The workshop wraps up with a Q&A session around noon, with an opportunity to extend your experience until 2:00 PM for further hands-on cleaning, in-depth discussions, and continued education.

Location: Lawrence Cemetery in Bayside, at the corner of 216th Street and 42nd Avenue. Please note that the site involves walking on uneven ground, and restrooms are not available.
