‘Lion’ Running Weekend

Join us for an unforgettable experience celebrating the iconic Peckett & Sons No. 1351 ‘Lion’ on Tyneside, making its first appearance in over 50 years! 📅 This rare locomotive, built in 1914 and the last of its kind, will be steaming back into action from June 5th-7th. Explore its remarkable history from the Royal Arsenal to the Wallsend Slipway and Engineering Company, and enjoy a packed timetable of passenger and demonstration freight trains.
✨ What to Expect:
- An amazing display of 30+ classic cars provided by NECPWA on Saturday and Sunday!
- Fascinating local history exhibits and informative workshops tours.
- Experience the OO gauge layout ‘Middle Engine Lane’ in action.
- A unique slideshow of railway photographs by Dave Dunn in the John Storey Room (timings TBA).
- Delight in a ‘Sausage Supper Special’ offered during the 5pm and 6pm train departures on Saturday. 🌭
