Living Room Lectures presents Other Worlds, Other Ways: Science Fiction and the Art of Possibility

Celebrate Pride with us as we explore how science fiction can be a queer storytelling tool for questioning the world, imagining new possibilities, and finding freedom in the act of wondering why.
Pride is often framed as a celebration of the world we've built for the queer community, but it's also a celebration of the worlds we've imagined. With the constant threats we face, queer people have always had to imagine that a different future was possible. We’ve had to ask: What if? Why not? Says who?
Those are the same questions at the heart of science fiction, and the ones we’ll consider in this lecture by writer Sara Youngblood Gregory. Sara will examine how science fiction challenges assumptions, creates new possibilities, and helps us imagine different ways of being.

Popcorn, candy, and an open wine bar will be available. Donations are encouraged with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.

Sara Youngblood Gregory (she/they) is a reader, writer and author. Her debut speculative poetry collection DEAD BOYS IN SPACE was released in May with YesYes Books.
