About the event

Nana Rashid is a Danish–Zanzibari–Omani jazz vocalist whose music explores what it means to be human — in all its beauty, complexity, and vulnerability. With a voice that moves between Nordic calm and soulful intensity, she creates intimate, emotionally charged performances that feel both timeless and deeply personal. Her songs balance strength and fragility, silence and truth, inviting listeners into a space where emotion becomes connection. Awarded Best New Jazz Artist of the Year at the Danish Music Awards 2023, Rashid made a powerful debut with Music for Betty (April Records), a critically acclaimed album blending Nordic melancholy, blues, and poetic storytelling. Jazzwise ( ) praised its “smouldering intensity,” while Politiken called her “an absolutely terrific vocalist who really stands out on the Danish jazz scene.”

Since then, Rashid has performed across Scandinavia, Europe, and Asia — including a soldout concert at Ronnie Scott’s (London) and celebrated appearances at Jazz in Marciac (France) and Taichung Jazz Festival (Taiwan). She has also appeared on Danish national television and was invited as a guest to His Majesty The King of Denmark’s Cultural Ball in 2024, marking her growing presence as one of the most distinctive voices in Nordic jazz. Now entering a new creative chapter, Rashid is preparing her forthcoming album New Ways to Pray, produced by Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Melody Gardot). The project expands her sound into a more spiritual and cinematic realm — a bridge between continents, cultures, and the inner landscapes of the soul.
